Apron sinks are wall-mounted. They may be either single or double bowl and are very deep. They are usually made of china, porcelain-coated cast iron or stainless steel. They are sometimes referred to as farmhouse sinks and are commonly found in kitchens.
Pedestal sinks are free standing and are either one or two piece. They are usually made from china, or a combination of a china base and a glass bowl. The advantage of a pedestal sink is that it has a small footprint. The drain/trap and supply lines are concealed behind the pedestal creating a sleek, uncluttered profile. Pedestal sinks are normally installed in bath or powder rooms.
As their name implies, under-mount sinks are mounted beneath countertops. To prevent leaks, they also must be well-sealed or water will drip below. They are usually found in kitchens or baths.
