Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you have a septic tank...... I have used Insinkerators since I was kid and my Dad installed one. In 1995, I had a multi-stage Insinkerator installed over a septic tank (sized for a four bedroom - 3 bath home) for the first time. Never had an issue. In 2006 I had two multi-stage Insinkerators installed over a septic system (sized for a 5BR - 4Ba home) and have never had an issue. I purchased this one for a small river cottage with a ten year old septic system which was pumped and inspected in May of this year. It is quieter than any I have had before and it is fast and efficient. I expect no issues with this one - the 10 and 20 year old ones are still performing like new. Buy one!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bio-Charge Does not Disperse This disposal was purchased because it was made for use with septic tanks. The garbage disposal works fine. Because of the septic tank, we do not grind anything large. We use it to grind up only small pieces of food. However, the bio-charge liquid did not disperse. The company sent a new disposal and our wonderful plumber put it in free of charge. The quality of the second disposal does not seem to be as good as the first disposal. In addition, the second disposal was an inch off so the plumber had to change our pipes to make it fit. It is not worth the extra money. I would not recommend this disposal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great noise reduction over previous model Our old one plugged up on thanksgiving & we ordered this new one & had to wait a week so we were w/o onefor a week! When the new one arrived there were a few changes from the previous model, our sink configuration has a small sink on the left which is shallow with the insinkerator the right sink is standard & the dish washer is to the right of that. The new tube from the dish washer had to be bent to meet the opening which was higher than the older one, the. New one was shorter. The shorter model allowed for more storage under which is a plus. The new unit is more silent which is great. All in all we are happy with the new style.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for those of us on septic systems We've been, over the years, slowly remodeling our 1926 farmhouse, built when there wasn't even electricity in the area. When we got around to the kitchen, we wanted all the conveniences, that included a dishwasher (other than one of us) and a garbage disposal unit. Being on a small flow sewage treatment facility, basically a house sized treatment plant, limited us to what we could install that wouldn't give the system "heartburn". This InSinkErator Evolution Septic Assist unit certainly fills the bill. The unit was easy enough to install and operates flawlessly. Incredibly quiet and fairly stingy with the tank of "bugs" that it injects when used. We've been using it now for about 6 months and haven't used half a bottle; it was a bit of a concern to us as to how much "consumable" it would use, but, we're quite happy with the unit and its function. Well done InSinkErator!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I'm cautiously optimistic about this disposer. The disposer works really well except with citrus rinds. It does not like citrus rinds and to date, following several attempts to dispose of citrus rinds, we no longer put them down the drain. Other than this incident, it works really well, but we are cautious about what we put into the drain. It runs quieter than most disposers I have used. However, we experience strong odors from time to time and have invested in a disposer deodorizer. I don't know if this caused by the disposer or not, but the odors did not start until after we installed this disposer and started using it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great disposer, takes some getting used to! I didn't install this, my contractor did in our new home. However, it seems to be a pretty great unit. It's quieter than I expected, and it hasn't had a problem with anything we've ground up yet. I've only had it a few weeks, so I can't speak on its durability or the long term results of the enzyme treatment on the waste in my septic tank. I'm hopeful it will help, though. I will say the drain trap assembly has come apart three times now and it's difficult to put back together, so make sure it stays tight or you'll have trouble with it! Also the unit is fairly large under my sink and takes up more room than I expected it would. Hence the reason for the 4 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Recommend, especially for installation in a strong sink We installed this garbage disposal in our new house after being pleased with its performance in our previous place. I don't worry about clogging up the septic because it adds a solution to aid in biodegrading. I was concerned that we may use lots of solution, but I only need to change bottles every year or so. It is very powerful, so I recommend putting it in a sink with heavier gauge steel. Our first place had a cheap sink, and it vibrated a lot. Installing it in a sink with 18 gauge steel is perfect; it is pretty quiet, considering its strength.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall very quiet and easy to install I was replacing a previous garbage disposal and due to being on a septic system, I found this one was the only one on the market that specialized in septic safe disposers. I am very pleased with the product so far, after about a month. It is super quiet (for a disposer) and very powerful. Note, when installing it on a dual sink, the release button to change the septic fluid container is less than an inch from my cabinet interior wall. But knowing that I will only need that when changing the container, it is a very minimal flaw. Overall, high quality, ease of install, and ultra quietness makes this a disposer I would absolutely recommend to anyone with a septic system in need of one.
