Rated 3 out of 5 by from Was a good machine I have this machine BROTHER XL2600 for about 3 yrs+ It worked okay out of the box for my sewing needs, Which is making dolls and light things like that. But I stopped using this machine for a bit and went onto something else. Now I have a need for it and cannot figure how to set it up again. Plus the bobbin winder whirrrrs and doesn't turn anymore for whatever reason. The machine was safely put away in a sewing case and came to no harm and I cannot find information on size needs it may take anywhere. Almost seems like it would be better just to go buy another brand easier to use machine. When it was working, it worked pretty good though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellant ourchase I had a top of line Kenmore, purchased some 35 years ago, and reverse gear went. Rather than put money into repair, as I don't sew like I use to, I began a search for a reasonable machine I could use for little projects. I researched several, & decided for the price & what was offered,(most of which I was looking for) this machine was a good choice. I might change some things, or add some, but for what I needed the machine for, it really fills the bill. Had some issues at first, but worked everything out ok. Have added some extra presser feet. All in all, I am very pleased with this machine & would recommend it to anyone looking for a basic sewing machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brother Sewing Machine XL2600i I am a complete sewing novice, but I wanted to learn to that I could do small repairs to clothing etc. I found this machine easy to use, the instruction manual is very easy to follow with complete details. A big plus. Although I don't think I'll be doing any large sewing projects soon I know that I will easily learn. Would recommend this machine for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brother Makes Great Machines For the price, this is a great machine. It would be a wonderful starter machine for young and old alike. It would also make a great travel machine if you have an RV or vacation home. The dials are simple to use as is the needle threading and bobbin. Is it quite? No, It is a manual machine not computerized. I purchased this as a spare. My beloved computerized machine is 15 years old which makes parts hard to find when it breaks. With this machine I can still make simple clothing repairs, make quilt tops or hem a pair of pants while my beloved machine is in the shop. My computerized machine is also a Brother.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Really Disappointed I bought this machine about 4-5 years ago to replace a 30 year old Singer. I though it would last longer than it has. This machine was very lightly used. I lost interest in sewing for a while so I only made a few repairs, a couple of alterations, a Halloween costume and four aprons before it broke. It has lasted only 4-5 years before tension has just disappeared. It's not worth it to take it to be repaired as it cost under $100. I am now going to replace it with a Singer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! I am in my mid (okay, late) 60's. Initially learned to sew in school and even made a few outfits. My (x) husband bought me a very expensive and nice Singer machine which had discs to do different stitches. I never used the machine for anything other than to hem slacks or repair sewing. Bobbin constantly jammed and I had to get it repaired. Current spouse bought me the Brother and I love it. 25 different stitches without doing anything other than move a dial. It even threads the needle which is great with my sight not as good as it was.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from XL2600i I just received my machine for my birthday. It is easy to use for a beginner. The only trouble is learning to use the needle threader. My eye sight is good but I have a hard time doing the loops around the 2 hooks and slipping the thread out of the loop of thread that goes through the needle. Can you give me suggestions for making it easier for less nimble fingers of mine ?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for my sewing needs When I started looking for a replacement machine for my old Singer I hadn't even considered a Brother until I found the XL 2600i. It had exactly what I needed and none of what I thought was over kill and it was at a very affordable price. The large dials and reverse switch are great and with my failing sight I love the needle threader. So far I have used it with most kinds of fabric including jeans and it just walked right over the seams with no problems. I had it up and sewing ten minutes out of the box. I love this machine.
