The wonderful feel of a stainless steel sink
Stainless steel is the material most frequently used for sinks, and the most popular countertop for commercial kitchens. As one of the world`s largest buyers of stainless steel for kitchens, we have perfected its evolution over decades to bring you unique quality.
What makes it so special?
Durable and naturally hygienic, stainless steel is a natural choice for commercial applications including restaurants. With a range of attributes, it’s the most frequently used material for kitchen sinks.
Franke stainless steel is unique
There’s stainless steel and then there’s stainless steel. The alloy used by Franke is the result of an evolution that began in 1930. Franke stainless steel sinks are made from premium quality chrome nickel steel giving them stunning beauty while making them highly resistant to staining, rust and corrosion and providing maximum durability. The steel is composed of 17-18% chromium for shine and rust resistance and adds extra corrosion protection.
Sheets of metal can be purchased ready-polished. Franke does not do this for its deep drawn sinks, however. Instead, we polish the stainless steel only once it has been turned into a finished sink. The silky-glistening surface of a Franke stainless steel sink comes from the final polish.
Choosing the ideal stainless steel gauge
The standard gauge describes the thickness of a metal sheet, on a scale from 8 to 30. The lower the number, the thicker the metal sheet. The thicker it is, the less it can be bent or dented and the quieter it is in use. But if too thin, it becomes impossible to produce a sink from a single sheet of metal.
