Ducted Range Hoods
Ducted range hoods vent air out from the kitchen to the outdoors through piping installations. These types of hoods are common in commercial kitchens or homes with a larger range, in which they're able to quickly and thoroughly extract large amounts of smoke caused from sizzling foods.
Because of their expelling process, ducted range hoods can be more efficient and quieter than a ductless range hood depending on their CFM extraction rate. Lower power levels tend to run on minimal noise, whereas a higher extraction rate may be a little louder but are also more powerful. CFMs range from a low 160 CFM, up to an impressive 2532 CFM extraction rate that is sure to clear the air in an instant. The variable speed allows a more precise control of blower power.
Not only will they clear the air, many are equipped with a halogen and LED lighting system to highlight your delicious creations. Some ducted hoods boast temperature sensors that detect high heat levels and automatically activate blowers. Brands such as Zephyr, Whirlpool, and Hallman feature Energy Star rated ducted hoods that leave a small carbon footprint and won't harm the environment.
Ducted range hoods are available in under cabinet, wall mount, island mount, downdraft, and ceiling mount types to match the layout of your kitchen. Styles include a standard hood, canopy pro-style, chimney style, and slide-out. Most have an internal blower, where the blower is in the hood and fully contained. They are easier to install and access in comparison to hoods with an external blower which is mounted outside the home.
Find one that's suitable for your culinary arsenal. Ducted range hoods can be as modest as 2" wide, such as the downdraft hoods from Sirius. If your cooking surface is more grand, explore Viking, Broan, and ZLINE for models that expand up to 60" in width.
