Ease of Use:
My refrigerator nightmare began not with Bluestar but Kitchenaid. I had the KRFC704FSS as a reference. I loved this refrigerator. It was
beautiful, quiet, and felt substantial. It was perfect...until it didn`t cool any longer. Kitchenaid knew there was a problem with this model
and so they offered me a new refrigerator or my money back. Unfortunately, the models they offered me were not up to par with the model I
had. So they took it back and gave me my money. I was now on a quest to find a new refrigerator and fast. Four kids and no refrigerator in my
I always do a ton of research when buying anything. I wanted something high end with pro handles to match my kitchenaid wall oven and
dishwasher. I found the bluestar. Brand new model but their other refrigerators were beautiful so I expected nothing less. I read
everything I could find on it. Interestingly, I found the manual to almost match the blomberg refrigerator. I didnt really want to pay 500
more for a bluestar label. I called Bluestar and first asked if they could send pictures and next if it was made by blomberg? The lady
assured me "100 percent " as she said, it was not made by Blomberg and it was manufactured in Pennsylvania. Great...just a coincidence then.
This was hopefully a winner. By the way, she never sent me pictures. I should have questioned this.
Next I contact appliances connection. We remodel homes and had purchased from them in the past for our business. They reached out to
bluestar and assured me a new refrigerator in a week. I would have to go back but I believe it was actually 2 weeks...with no refrigerator. I
was dying and looking at my options.
When they finally delivered I was so happy to have refrigerator I didnt ask them to take it back even though I was seriously disappointed. I
could tell immediately the stainless steel was no where near the quality of the kitchenaid. Flimsy and cheap comes to mind. It shows
fingerprints and marks so easily. The doors have absolutely no weight to them. It just feels so cheap. The doors don`t actually shut all the
way unless you push them all the way. We`ve already learned this the hard way more than once. They shut enough so the alarm doesnt sound but
not enough to keep you food cold. If you do close the door though don`t expect the temperature to be very consistent. I have it set at 40
degrees and I consistently have certain items freeze all the time. Eggs burst and frozen berries. I really dont want to put it any warmer than
40 as other areas in the refrigerator will be too warm. Inside the refrigerator looks just as cheap. Nothing like the beautiful stainless in
their other refrigerators. Plastic plastic plastic. Drawers are super basic like you might find in a 400 dollar refrigerator. Definitely
not softclose like my kitchenaid. Oh and guess what I found under the drawer....made in Turkey (it`s a blomberg). Not exactly an honest
company either. Final reason I dislike this refrigerator, it is the loudest refrigerator I`ve ever experienced. The first night I figured it
was just set up. It needs to settle. Nope, it is a jet plane constantly humming along in my kitchen. Soo annoying! I hate it.
So I contact appliances connection hoping I have my 30 day guarantee and they will take it back. Guess I should have read the fine print.
Since they installed it...they cant take it back. The rep said he would contact bluestar though and maybe they would allow me to return it. I
waited a few days and when I didnt hear anything I asked for an update. I never got another email or call about it. Not even an apology that
they wouldn`t take it back. I would have even been willing to upgrade to the built in bluestar just to get rid of this pos.
My take away, the product is clearly not made by bluestar so I dont think it is an actual representation of all their products (which always get
good reviews). The fact that Bluestar lied to me, never followed up with pictures, and clearly didnt not care about my user experience after
purchasing does say a lot about their customer service and integrity though. In all honesty I`m disappointed in appliance connections for not
following up either. As far as the product itself, horrible. Cheap looking, feeling, operating and sounding. Only thing not cheap is the
price tag. Only positive, it makes lots of ice.
