Williamsburg in Brooklyn has been carrying the moniker of Hipster Central for well over a decade. The fact is anyone who can afford to live in a new condo in the area probably stopped being a hipster when their start-up got sold.
Sitting dramatically beside older commercial properties, for which the dynamic, bustling neighborhood is known, Element88 on 88 Withers Street, stands out because of its eye-catching, topsy-turvy design. The calm and tranquility inside belie the architectural drama outside. The building consists of 33 one, two and, three-bedroom homes.
“It’s all a honeycomb concrete structure design,” says developer Sergey Rybak, noting the unique shape of the property. “It’s a pretty amazing feat [while] using concrete as a building material.”
Corcoran sales agent Andrew Appell from Team Fernandez, concurs.
“What makes it unique is the fact that concrete was used as a superstructure with these cantilevered forms so there are no actual columns in the units. Couple this with the 12-foot ceilings, 10-foot doors, glass walls and the interiors are very open and spacious. There’s a really calming, subdued vibe inside.”
A Look Inside Element88
The condos average 938 square feet with 5000 square feet of retail on the ground floor. Penthouse suites are also available. Here’s a look at the cabinetry and appliances in the kitchens.
Scavolini, via their Brooklyn office, designed the kitchens. Project Manager Davide Costanzo described it as, “a luxurious kitchen, all white lacquered with Italian style marble like Calacatta or white Carrara.”
You’ll find a MAS304GASXE 30-inch freestanding gas range from Bertazzoni in their Master Series in all the units. The sleek white lines of the Scavolini cabinetry are juxtaposed with the Herringbone wood floors in the kitchens.
The refrigerators in the majority of the condos are BRFB1920FBI 30-inch counter depth bottom freezer refrigerators by Blomberg. The refrigerators in the penthouses are by Liebherr.
All dishwashers are by Bosch, the SHV68TL3UC 24-inch built-in fully integrated model from the 800 Series.
Appliance Flexibility for Residents
Despite the quality of appliances on offer, Appell is aware that many buyers have their own specific preferences may be attached to certain brands or manufacturer.
“It’s particularly true when it comes to ranges,” he says. “Bertazzoni is obviously a great make but perhaps not as well-known as others. We recently had a buyer who was attached to Wolf, so we had no trouble swapping it out. After all, when a buyer is paying top dollar to live in Williamsburg the least we can be is flexible.”
