For almost 100 years Sub-Zero/Wolf has been on the vanguard of innovation in the kitchen. Sub-Zero was initially formed in the 1930’s when Westye Bakke began experimenting with refrigeration in the 1930’s. His son Bud had juvenile diabetes and storing his insulin was at the forefront of his father’s mind. Dissatisfied with current existing freezers, Westye built his first freestanding freezer from scrap metal in his basement, launching Sub-Zero in 1945.
In 2000 the company introduced Wolf cooking appliances, a company that itself had been around for eight decades. They both shared the same ethos of building products in their own American factories, where they are able to control every step of manufacturing.
Today, Wolf’s distinctive red range knobs are the hallmark of both good taste in appliances and probably good taste in the dishes they help produce.
