Tracing its lineage back to Thomas Edison’s New Jersey workshop and laboratory, GE is one of America’s most storied companies. In their over 125 year history, GE has innovated and manufactured in the fields of aviation, healthcare, energy, communications, lighting, computing. They’re particularly excelled in home refrigeration. As a company, they bring everything they’ve learned to everything they create, giving their appliances a well-earned reputation for high performance and design. Below is our list of the 10 best GE refrigerators of 2019.
Despite its slim profile, this counter-depth refrigerator boasts an impressive 11.7 cu ft capacity, ensuring that even a smaller home or apartment can have the means to have a fully stocked larder. And with 4.2 cu. ft. of that space being used by the two bottom freezer drawers, that can include a hearty amount of meat and other frozen foods. The Quick Space shelf can retract so you can fit taller items in the main fridge compartment. Above the crispers, you’ll find 5 bottle capacity storage rack for your favorite wines. It folds up when not in use.
The TempSelectZone crisper has three settings to keep your produce at its freshest. Exterior electronic touch controls let you adjust conditions in the unit without opening doors and/or drawers, releasing cold air. This refrigerator is fitted for an optional icemaker which can be installed after purchase. Even with being feature rich, the unit is ENERGY STAR® qualified.
This traditional style refrigerator with clean modern aesthetics has a 17.5 cu. ft. total capacity, making it a comfortable fit for most moderately sized homes. It’s also the most affordable full-size fridge in our Top 10. With 3 spill-proof glass shelves, 2 adjustable-humidity drawers, gallon door storage, and a convenient snack drawer, there’s plenty of variable fridge real-estate for every type of food.
Upfront temperature controls located at the top of the refrigerator interior makes regulating the fridge and the freezer simple. The NeverClean Condenser and #1 Quality and Dependability rating from The Stevenson Company certify this fridge as a low maintenance unit. This fridge is also equipped for an optional icemaker, which can be installed after purchase.
From the least expensive fridge on our list to the most, this counter-depth refrigerator has 21.9 cu. ft. total capacity split between the 7.7 cu. ft. freezer on your left, and 14.2 cu. ft. refrigerator on your right. 3 adjustable spill-proof shelves and 2 adjustable gallon door bins give you the freedom to use your fridge space however you like.
The freezer also has 2 adjustable shelves and comes with an ice maker. Frost Guard technology prevents items from getting freezer burn by defrosting only when necessary. This prevents the excess condensation build-up that occurs when the freezer is defrosted at regular intervals. The water and ice dispenser on the door uses MWF filters to reduce toxins and pharmaceuticals from water and ice.
The only compact fridge in our Top 10, this model is perfect for putting in a dorm room or man-cave. It can also be installed in a common family area, giving children easy access to their own for healthy drinks and snacks. In spite of its 5.6 cu. ft. capacity, this fridge manages to squeeze in two shelves, a crisper, door shelves, and a can rack! There’s even a .49 cu. ft. freezer area for a personal tub of ice cream and two mini ice trays. The door is reversible, making it truly adaptable to any space and it’s ENERGY STAR® qualified.
Hope you like French Door refrigerators, because they fill out the rest of our Top 10.
This model has a 17.5 cu. ft. refrigerator and 7.3 cu. ft. freezer. The fridge has 4 adjustable half-width shelves, 2 crispers, and a full-width Electronic Temperature-Controlled Drawer with 3 settings for meats and fish, cheeses, or produce. Gallon door shelves can hold pretty much any beverage you could want, and there’s a filtered internal water dispenser if all you drink is the clear stuff. And, everything in the fridge is protected by a Turbo Cool setting, which sets the refrigerator temperature to dip after frequent openings to maintain previously set coolness.
The freezer has one slide-out shelf, and included ice-maker. This model is also ENERGY STAR® qualified.
In many ways, this is merely a 3 inch wider version of the last model. It increases the fridge and freezer space to 18.8 cu ft and 8.2. cu ft respectively. The Temperature-Controlled Drawer is replaced by a full-width Deli Drawer designed to store meats and cheeses so you’ll have easy access for sandwich making and charcuterie plates. Each shelf of the larger freezer also gains a divider to help keep them organized.
Dropping back down to 33 inches, this model with 18.6 cu ft total capacity is the only French door style in our Top 10 at counter-depth. Counter-depth means that this handsome fridge will line up flush with counters and other carpentry in your kitchen for a clean, uniform silhouette across the room.
Internally, this refrigerator has the same feature and layout of the previous French door refrigerator.
This 28.5 cu ft total capacity behemoth is the largest fridge in our Top 10. We can’t imagine most households find any scarcity of space in it, even if they entertain regularly. With the same interior layout of the previous French door models, the biggest upgrade in this one is the TwinChill™ Evaporators. Instead of the entire unit sharing one cooling system between the refrigerator and freezer, each compartment has a dedicated evaporator to maintain ideal environments. This helps the freezer stay cold and dry, and the fridge stays cool and more humid. It also prevents cross-contamination of flavors or odors.
This 36-inch model has a slightly smaller capacity than the last one, with only 27.8 cu. ft. total. However, this is counterbalanced with a few additional features.
Most obvious is that, unlike the previous French door models, this one has an external filtered water and ice dispenser on the left-hand refrigerator door rather than just an internal water dispenser. Behind itis an ice maker that’s more compact than in other models on the market. Should you need even more ice, you could install a second icemaker in the freezer with a kit that’s sold separately.
In addition to the TwinChill™ Evaporators and Turbo Cool setting, this model also has a Turbo Freeze setting. This works pretty much identically as the previously described Turbo Cool mode, but in the freezer. Besides its ENERGY STAR® qualification, this model is also ADA compliant.
Rounding out our Top 10 is this 23.8 cu ft total capacity French door model with external water and ice dispenser. Unfortunately, along with 4 cu. ft. of capacity, this model also loses the TwinChill™ Evaporators and Turbo Freeze. If you liked the look and general performance of the last model, but need it slightly smaller, then this is the best GE refrigerator for you.
