Ceiling Mount Range Hoods
Ceiling mount range hoods are integrated into the ceiling and are positioned directly over cook spaces as an alternative space-saving ventilation system. Ceiling mount hoods are a great choice for those who want to tastefully incorporate venting into their kitchen design without it taking up as much room as conventional range hoods do.
Many ceiling mount range hoods have a convertible venting type. This allows a more flexible installation where air can be expelled from the inside to the outdoors through ducting or recirculated through the filters and back out.
For the best possible cooking experience, there should be no more than a four feet distance between the cooking surface and the ceiling mount range hoods. Thus, ceiling mount hoods are better suited to lower ceilings. Sizes can be up to a large 63” width. It's suggested to have ceiling range hoods slightly bigger than your cooktop or range to thoroughly whisk away grease particles, smoke, and odors. For instance, a 30 inch cooktop would work well with a 36 inch wide ceiling range hoods.
Ceiling mount range hoods clear the air with blowers that have extraction rates from a serviceable 600 CFM up to a powerful 1500 CFM. Some filters can also be placed in the dishwasher for easy clean-ups and require little maintenance to ensure vents perform at their best. They function as a light source with many featuring an LED lighting system.
What goes out, must go back in to avoid back drafting, humidity, and other problems caused by poor airflow. Thankfully, many ceiling mount hoods are make-up air compliant, which uses a fan to replace air that has been removed from the kitchen.
