Whirlpool WMC30516AW Reviews & Ratings

WMC30516AW 1.6 cu. ft. Capacity Countertop Microwave with 1,200 Watts Cooking Power, Sensor Cooking, Recessed Glass Turntable, Quick Touch Popcorn Button, and Control Lock, in White is rated 4.4118 out of 5 by 272.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what a microwave is designed to do We've used this for 2 months and find it to be very good. During a kitchen re-model, we wanted a unit which had an available trim kit so it could be wall mounted above a wall oven. Our choices were somewhat limited, but that didn't mean we settled for this model. Test evaluations and previous reviews played an important part in our selection. We use a microwave primarily to reheat left overs and, for the short time we've used it (and we've used it frequently), it's been fine. Our only complaint is with the sensor cooking, in that it seems to cook longer than necessary. I've yet to let it cook until it may shut off automatically.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product overall My old microwave just stopped working on me. I had not gotten two years use out of it and it would have cost more to repair it than the amount we paid for it. I did enjoy the quiet features of my old microwave and the express buttons were very convenient. When asked, the repairman told me that Whirlpool was the better quality appliance so I started my search and ended with a Whirlpool. I was used to the quietness of my old microwave as the door and "waves" of my new Whirlpool were a little louder but overall, I am enjoying my new microwave. A washer dryer pair would complete my appliance pairing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cooks food evenly & quickly; easy to use This microwave has a number of excellent features, yet is easy to use. Food cooks quickly and evenly. The only drawback, in my opinion, is the protective film that covers the touch pad. We have only owned this microwave for a little over 1.5 months and we are seeing "bubbles" appear on the "start" and "cancel" pads, as well as around the top edge of the pad. This makes me wonder how long the protective film is going to actually last. I'm also a bit hesitant about the push-button release for the door and it's durability. I guess time will tell. I've only used a microfiber cloth to clean the pads, so no harsh chemical cleaners and no water so I don't believe the "bubbles" are caused by anything the consumer has done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gets the job done My old microwave began malfunctioning and I needed a replacement. I noticed that we had a whirlpool microwave at work that we have had for many years and it gets a ton of use and abuse and "keeps on ticking". So, I researched many different brands and decided that the whirlpool seemed to be the best bet for the money. We have had it several months now and I am very pleased with it. It seems more powerful than the last microwave as it takes a little less time to cook or warm up various items. It is simple enough to use and yet, it has all the bells and whistles if you want them. The door latch is a little stiff, but not a major issue and the sound level is about average for microwaves. I would certainly recommend this oven.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solidly built, work well The microwave oven is a good size for us - not so big that it over powers the counter but big enough to cook whatever we want. It's built solidly and the controls are laid out well. The oven has sensor cooking (which we wanted) but were disappointed to find that the sensor only works on "reheat dinner plate", "fresh vegetable", and "frozen vegetable" - we hoped that it would work with potatoes and popcorn. The display is a VERY bright blue light - so bright you can easily navigate the kitchen without a light. I wish the light could be dimmed when not cooking.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful Fit & Finish I didn't realize how worn out my last microwave was. I can't complain it lasted 24 years. This microwave just runs circles around it, this is just so nice, very attractive cabinet and great addition to our kitchen. The clock display works well as a night light, very bright and easy to read across the room. The control panel is a little on the small side, that maybe due to my eyesight which is going south with the years. But I think this was a very good buy and so far I am very happy with this product as I have been with all the whirlpool products I have owned.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Average features, average design, great performance The Whirlpool® 1.6 cu. ft. Countertop Microwave with 1,200 Watts Cooking Power is an average appliance in a world of other average microwave ovens. When our 1300 watt Panasonic MW oven failed after only two years, and I wanted another 1300 watt oven, my choice were Panasonic and only Panasonic. I had to have a countertop model too, further limiting our choices. We went for the Whirlpool based on the brand and the price. There is nothing special, or unique about this MW oven. But it does the job, does it well, without frills. In other words, no complaints.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Performs fine. Needed microwave to fit into cabinet space. Microwave was one of few that would fit and included stand and framing for the space plus a good rating performance. It has features that I will probably not use. Popcorn does well. Better than others that burn the corn rather than pop it. Feature for frozen vegs in bags works reasonably for heating but rather select the actual time to have hotter vegs. Purchased in December 2012. Serving us well in March 2013. I rather have a handle to open the door rather than pushing a button. Button gives it a sleak look.

What exactly is an Extended Service Plan?
An extended service plan is generally an extension of your original manufacturer's warranty. Most manufacturers warranty their products to be free from defects for up to one year from the date of purchase. This warranty virtually guarantees you that if your newly purchased product fails, the manufacturer will protect you from the high costs of replacement parts and labor necessary to repair your product. Extended service plans lengthen your product's coverage for up to an additional 60 months (5 years) to insure you get years of performance satisfaction from your newly purchased product.
How is this different than the manufacturer's warranty?
A manufacturer's warranty usually offers limited coverage for a limited time, with parts and labor carrying separate lengths of coverage. For example, a common manufacturer warranty of a product might cover a consumer for one full year on parts defects but only 90 days on the high cost of labor involved to change those parts. Extended service plans provide comprehensive, long term, even length coverage. This means that should your product fail within your plans coverage time frame, both parts and labor costs are covegrey.
How do I buy an Extended Service Plan?
Extended Service Plans can be purchased along with your product online, or via our toll free number.
Can I renew my Consumer Priority Service extended service plan?
Yes, service plans are renewable and must be submitted 30 days prior to the original plans expiration. Please contact a sales representative to discuss your renewal options.
What should I do if I need extended service?
Our extended service providers offer an easy to use interactive form online which you may use to request that they initiate a claim on your product. Your other alternative is to call the toll-free number on your extended warranty card or email and have a qualified representative make this request for you with the information you will provide. We believe that our claim initiation request process is the absolute best our industry has to offer. It is designed for simplicity and speed.
Who will perform the service on my product?
Our company works with over 11,000 authorized service professionals. Each technician is extensively trained by the respective manufacturers to provide service on your products. Authorized technicians must complete annual and bi-annual continued education exams in addition to being well versed in manufacturer supplied update bulletins to ensure their level of expertise is as current as the new products which come to market. We urge our customers to provide feedback regarding their experiences which we later use to insure that the level of service we are expected to provide is exactly the level of service you receive.
May I transfer my extended service plan to another person?
Our service plans are 100% transferable. If you would like transfer ownership of the covegrey product along with its coverage, we require that the request be supplied in writing. For assistance please contact a Representative. Please have all of the new owner's information at hand when requesting a transfer.
Will I have to pay a deductible or any other "hidden costs"?
Generally, the amount of a deductible is almost always proportional to the amount of the premium charged. In order to have a lower deductible, even as low as $0, the plan holder would generally have to agree to a higher premium. For those who want lower premiums, they must agree to a higher deductible. Our extended service plans carry a $0.00 deductible along with low premiums. This means that with an extended service plan there are no high upfront costs and they are committed to cover 100% parts and labor costs on any authorized claim.
When does my warranty start?
Depending on the type of coverage you own, an extended warranty begins at the conclusion of the shortest portion of the manufacturer’s warranty. If the manufacturer’s warranty was 90 day labor and 1 year parts, the extended warranty would begin on the 91st day and continue for the duration of the warranty period. All replacement, commercial and accidental plans begin on the date of purchase.
Why does my plan say "under $1000"?
Some plans carry a dollar value on them. This means that your product's purchase price, excluding tax, delivery and accessories is below the listed price on the contract. It's simply a classification based on the price of purchase of the product under warranty.
What does an accidental plan cover?
If you have added Accidental Coverage to your plan, this plan shall cover unintentional damages as a result of: impact, liquid damage or unintentional physical damage. Accidental Coverage does not cover intentional damages of any kind to the covered product or losses due to theft. Accidental Coverage does not cover willful damage, misuse, damage due to neglect, drops over 6 feet, fire damage or full immersion in water.

Accidental Coverage does not cover damage caused by the use of a product in a way the manufacturer never intended. Coverage for this plan shall begin 30 days after the date of purchase of the covered product.
Is my service plan worldwide?
All plans carry a worldwide option at no additional charge. Contact a sales professional for further details.
Who do I contact with further questions?
Please contact a sales professional at 1-800-299-9470.
