Whirlpool WED5600XW Reviews & Ratings

WED5600XW Cabrio 27" Front-Load Electric Dryer with 7.4 Cu. Ft. Capacity, 8 Drying Cycles, 5 Temperature Settings, Wrinkle Shield Plus Option, AccuDry Sensor and LED Display in White is rated 4.6145 out of 5 by 773.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from I like my new dryer but I'm having issues with the lint filter. I have having issues with the check filter light coming on, but not on all cycles. It may come on if I use the permanent press cycle, but if I use the timed drying, it doesn't come on. I have used the vaccum to clean out the filter inside the dryer & have I cleaned the vent opening on the outside a couple of times. With the design of this washer/dryer set, I had to swap sides of the laundry room so the dryer now has a long pipe to the vent opening. I am concerned it that lint may be building up. The dryer worked really well at first, but now I 'm having to dry loads longer. The guide says any problem with the lint filter is not covered by warranty.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Would not recommend The temperatures are too high on even low. I have ruined more clothes than ever before! Things do not get dry unless I use more dry. The sensors only seem to sense what is in the back of the dryer. I am accustomed to a more sophisticated dampness detection. When I open the dryer door, no matter what heat setting I use, the temperature seems to feel the same. I am also used to a cooling down period in the drying cycle. I do not like the slanted lid. I usually dried my wool socks and placements on top but the vibration is too much and everything slides off. My laundry area is minimal so I do not have any other place to dry things.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this dryer! I first bought the whirlpool cabrio washer which I love but at the time my old dryer still worked, so my husband said wait until it stops working and we'll get you your cabrio dryer. So about a year later my old dryer bit the dust, so I was able to get my cabrio dryer. I love how big the drum is because my old dryer took at least two cycles to dry, not the cabrio. I can do a huge load of towels, jeans, colors, whatever and they all fit in the dryer and are dry in one cycle. It's an energy saving appliance that is so easy to use even with all the customizable settings. This dryer and of course the washer were money well spent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Need to read manual carefully to get optimum performance This is my first HE washer, it has taken some time to understand how to get the best results. I had an agitator style previously and sorted clothes mainly by color. It seems to work better when you sort by fabric type ( and also color) so you can use the appropriate settings. It means running more smaller loads. It does take longer than a traditional agitator, but not too much if you don't add extra cycles. The clothes do get clean, which is the whole purpose, have only been using for a few months, it's hard to say yet if the clothes will wear out faster. It spins quieter and the clothes are drier when they come out. My overall impression is favorable so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really good dryer It is a really good dryer. Its super quiet compared to the front load dryer we have had in the past. It doesn't practically shake the whole house when drying and when it's done I thought the alarm sound is pretty cute. Overall this is a really good dryer and I'll be recommending it to others looking for the same in the future. The only thing I didn't particularly like was the energy savings mode left the clothes a tiny bit damp at the end of the cycle, but I was informed this was normal for energy saving modes on all dryers. I usually just use the timer feature, which makes it less energy efficient but gets the job done.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This dryer has the door opening down, which is perfect for our laundry room. The door opens down, so it fits perfectly into our laundry room, and if I drop a sock or whatever it lands on the door instead of the floor. So far the dryer runs well: quiet, efficient, various temperature settings. The reason for the good, rather than excellent is that the top of the dryer tilts downward to the front, so I can't stack clothing on it as I fold, the clothes slide off due to the tilt. Also, it has a separate power button, so if I want to switch from normal to casual drying, I have to push the power button and then switch. It is really no big deal, just annoying if I am in a hurry. I bought this to replace a similar model dryer and I really do like it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Newer and still awesome I have owned twin Whirlpool washer/dryer for many years. I have not had an ounce of trouble with them. After recently buying a second home in Arizona near my daughter and grandchildren, it was time to purchase a washer and dryer. I did my Consumer Report Research and, once again, purchased a twin set washer and dryer by Whirlpool. I love the new features, especially the low agitator that assists in cleaning clothes without risk of clothing damage. The new settings are perfect. When my older set needs to be replace, I will again replace it with Whirlpool. I can only imagine what features will be included by that time!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Aside from "steam" feature, all is well after nearly 3 months Within a month of ownership my first service call was placed due to clothes coming out of the dryer blotchy-wet. The "steam" feature is more of a "mist" feature and the "mist" was saturating the clothing regardless of how big or small the load was. The tech calibrated the dryer and sped up the drum rotation. Still periodically get blotchy-wet stuff coming out of the dryer but it is something I can live with. I feel strongly the "steam" feature is misrepresented by the manufacturer and subsequently retailer. There is no steam. It's hot water misting into the dryer drum area. Aside from the above the unit has not presented any other issues after nearly 3 months of use.
