Whirlpool GW397LXUS Reviews & Ratings

GW397LXUS Gold Series 30" Slide-In Gas Range With 4 Sealed Burners, 4.5 Cu. Ft. Capacity, Self-Cleaning Oven, Storage Drawer, 120 Volts and 15 Amps, in Stainless Steel is rated 4.2577 out of 5 by 97.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from All around great range I cook almost all the family meals at home and over the years have had several ranges and this Whirlpool is by far the best. One time we owned a Bed/Breakfast and I continue to bake and the oven appears to be at the correct temperature. Also cook many slow cooked foods so the simmer feature is perfect and like that the burners are different sizes so I can tell at a glance the degree of heat. One thing I would have liked is an indicator that the range is ON because of the low flame on the simmer and not recognizing it is ON. A lot of research went into the selection and was the best product for my budget and circumstances. Thank you Whirlpool!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous Hi-Tech Centerpiece Just re-did my kitchen with hi-tech sink, faucet, windows, floors, and appliances. Of all the improvements, the Whirlpool gas slide-in range receives all the raves from our guests. Absolutely beautiful, and the cost was considerably lower than similar slide-in gas ranges from the other common manufacturers. We've been using the stove for 6 months now with no visible sign of stove-top paint wear, dulling or discoloration. And we cook a lot!!! Accusimmer is great, because at really low temperature it won't accidentally blow out like our old Kenmore did. Powerboil really pumps out the BTUs for fast pasta. I'm so happy we chose this range!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes Cooking Enjoyable I have been using this range for over two weeks and it is enjoyable to use. The continuous grate is a wonderful feature as well as the accusimmer burner. The oven bakes very evenly. The entire range top including control panel is easy to wipe clean. I haven't used the self cleaning feature or had to put the grates in the dishwasher yet, but anticipate those to be easy processes. The only weakness I see is the slides on the bottom storage drawer. Could the manufacturer spend about $10 more and make that drawer with better supports? I won't store anything in it since it doesn't slide well. Overall, I can recommend this appliance.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst stove ever! We searched for months for the "perfect stove". This is not it! The stove top cooking surface is very small. You cannot fit a normal size skillett and a small pot behind it. The cooking surface will only accommodate 2 pots or 2 skillets sitting side by side. It is impossible to cook 4 containers of food at the same time. I am so disappointed! We cooked one medium size pot of soup and the pad under the grate leg melted. We had the fire on medium to low. Also, it takes the oven a very long time to reach the desired temperature. We had this stove installed on 4/16/2012 and have regretted this purchase every day.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks and cooks great We are very happy with this Gas Range. We cook at home constantly, sometimes 3x a day, so this range is well-loved. Cooking either big or small is consistently good and the range is tremendously easy to use. Some drawbacks: we would have preferred an oven fan / convection oven. Cleaing the range top is easy but the grills and burner covers are less so. The self-cleaning settings are wonderful and vary depending on how dity / used your oven is. Front panel controls are a great space saver and give this classic design a very modern touch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to clean, works well, overall satisfied after 10 months. Bought from a big box store; 1st time I used the broiler on high, a loud vibration and no heat was produced when it reached the upper most temp. Logged a service ticket on web page and company called to schedule service; tech replaced motor; service tech showed and fixed a few days later; easy to use and convenient. Broiler performs excellent now; LOVE the removable grates for easy cleaning; gas burners are also excellent; the simmer feature is nice for soups/sauces. Overall satisfied and have been using for about 10 months.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Many great features, but design problem with oven racks. The cooktop portion works very well. Never had gas before and we were looking forward to it. We were not disappointed, but took some getting used to the fact that a lot of heat goes up the sides and the handles get hot and stirring spoon can burn. Cleaning the top is a little burdensome if you are used to a solid glass electric, but the surface cleans easily. The oven shelves are a problem. If you do not pull them all the way out, they will tilt down allowing the hot pans to slide forward and burn your hand as it did my wife. We have never had shelves that would not rest level at any position as they slide out. The oven was at 400 degrees, so it was not easy to pull the rack and a roaster pan forward and my wife was not expecting the rack to tilt. Oven cleaner works fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Changed to gas cooking Remodeled our kitchen and wanted to change from electric to gas cooking. We went with this slide in style range to give a more up scale look. We are very pleased with our Whirlpool gas range. Looks built in, easy to clean and cooks great with better heat control than electric. The only complant we have is its easy to forget a burner is on low as the flame is so small. There should be an indicator light that could be seen when walking by if a burner is on. We would definitely recommend this range.

What exactly is an Extended Service Plan?
An extended service plan is generally an extension of your original manufacturer's warranty. Most manufacturers warranty their products to be free from defects for up to one year from the date of purchase. This warranty virtually guarantees you that if your newly purchased product fails, the manufacturer will protect you from the high costs of replacement parts and labor necessary to repair your product. Extended service plans lengthen your product's coverage for up to an additional 60 months (5 years) to insure you get years of performance satisfaction from your newly purchased product.
How is this different than the manufacturer's warranty?
A manufacturer's warranty usually offers limited coverage for a limited time, with parts and labor carrying separate lengths of coverage. For example, a common manufacturer warranty of a product might cover a consumer for one full year on parts defects but only 90 days on the high cost of labor involved to change those parts. Extended service plans provide comprehensive, long term, even length coverage. This means that should your product fail within your plans coverage time frame, both parts and labor costs are covegrey.
How do I buy an Extended Service Plan?
Extended Service Plans can be purchased along with your product online, or via our toll free number.
Can I renew my Consumer Priority Service extended service plan?
Yes, service plans are renewable and must be submitted 30 days prior to the original plans expiration. Please contact a sales representative to discuss your renewal options.
What should I do if I need extended service?
Our extended service providers offer an easy to use interactive form online which you may use to request that they initiate a claim on your product. Your other alternative is to call the toll-free number on your extended warranty card or email and have a qualified representative make this request for you with the information you will provide. We believe that our claim initiation request process is the absolute best our industry has to offer. It is designed for simplicity and speed.
Who will perform the service on my product?
Our company works with over 11,000 authorized service professionals. Each technician is extensively trained by the respective manufacturers to provide service on your products. Authorized technicians must complete annual and bi-annual continued education exams in addition to being well versed in manufacturer supplied update bulletins to ensure their level of expertise is as current as the new products which come to market. We urge our customers to provide feedback regarding their experiences which we later use to insure that the level of service we are expected to provide is exactly the level of service you receive.
May I transfer my extended service plan to another person?
Our service plans are 100% transferable. If you would like transfer ownership of the covegrey product along with its coverage, we require that the request be supplied in writing. For assistance please contact a Representative. Please have all of the new owner's information at hand when requesting a transfer.
Will I have to pay a deductible or any other "hidden costs"?
Generally, the amount of a deductible is almost always proportional to the amount of the premium charged. In order to have a lower deductible, even as low as $0, the plan holder would generally have to agree to a higher premium. For those who want lower premiums, they must agree to a higher deductible. Our extended service plans carry a $0.00 deductible along with low premiums. This means that with an extended service plan there are no high upfront costs and they are committed to cover 100% parts and labor costs on any authorized claim.
When does my warranty start?
Depending on the type of coverage you own, an extended warranty begins at the conclusion of the shortest portion of the manufacturer’s warranty. If the manufacturer’s warranty was 90 day labor and 1 year parts, the extended warranty would begin on the 91st day and continue for the duration of the warranty period. All replacement, commercial and accidental plans begin on the date of purchase.
Why does my plan say "under $1000"?
Some plans carry a dollar value on them. This means that your product's purchase price, excluding tax, delivery and accessories is below the listed price on the contract. It's simply a classification based on the price of purchase of the product under warranty.
What does an accidental plan cover?
If you have added Accidental Coverage to your plan, this plan shall cover unintentional damages as a result of: impact, liquid damage or unintentional physical damage. Accidental Coverage does not cover intentional damages of any kind to the covered product or losses due to theft. Accidental Coverage does not cover willful damage, misuse, damage due to neglect, drops over 6 feet, fire damage or full immersion in water.

Accidental Coverage does not cover damage caused by the use of a product in a way the manufacturer never intended. Coverage for this plan shall begin 30 days after the date of purchase of the covered product.
Is my service plan worldwide?
All plans carry a worldwide option at no additional charge. Contact a sales professional for further details.
Who do I contact with further questions?
Please contact a sales professional at 1-800-299-9470.
