The #5500 Wall-a-Way Reclining Lift Chair is one of our most comfortable models, and is designed to accommodate a person from 5'6" to 6'4" tall. It has a weight capacity of 375 lbs., and the wall-a-way feature is designed so that this chair can be placed within 3" of a wall when the chair is in the fully reclined position.


The #5500 Wall-a-Way Reclining Lift Chair is one of our most comfortable models, and is designed to accommodate a person from 5'6 to 6'4 tall. It has a weight capacity of 375 lbs., and the wall-a-way feature is designed so that this chair can be placed within 3 of a wall when the chair is in the fully reclined position. This chair features a variety of positions, including the T.V. position. It features a lifetime warranty on the wood frame, lift mechanism and reclining hardware.   • The seat height from the floor is 21, and the width of the seat between the arms is 21. Depth of the seat front to back is 21. Top of the armrest from the seat measures 6.5 tall. The height of the backrest from the top of the seat measures 25. The tip of the footrest from the back of the seat measures 42. Magazine pocket on lower right-hand side of the chair is standard. Chaise pad is a standard feature. Armrest and headrest covers are standard. Battery back-up system is standard, however, this is not available with the upgrades of Ultra-EZZ III Massage system, or 2,4, or 6 Vib/Heat features at this time.
  • The frame of the chair is all kiln-dried hardwood, and all stress points are kiln-dried oak. All joints are glued and connected with steel fasteners. Uni-Construction of seat-back assembly is independently lab-tested for strength and durability. Gang nails are used at all other critical joints or stress points. All bolts used are top quality grade 5. All bolts go entirely through the wood. No lag screws are used to secure the mechanism. The mechanism is secured by special locking TNuts to ensure that the mechanism stays tight throughout the lifetime of the chair. All critical connection points for reclining hardware, etc. have a double locking nut, made of nylon aircraft grade quality. All wood screws used are the best and strongest available. Corner blocks are used throughout the chair at all critical points for added strength. An extra chair rail is used across the top of the seat back to ensure that the back remains straight and square.
  • This model features our new SoftLuxe Seat Cushion System (with patent pending) from Leggett & Platt. This SoftLuxe Seat Cushion System is constructed with a 7 x 7 x 3.5 coil that is constructed of igh-density fortified steel springs encased in fabric, providing a long-lasting cushon with maximum comfort. Coil Max coils are precisely formed by computer control, then pre-compressed and inserted into premium Quantum lightweight fabric to create a soft, noise-reducing pocket around each individual coil. Each Coil Max coil flexes independently, and adjusts instantly to optimize body contouring and support. The barrel-shaped coils offer initial luxurious softness, followed by firmer support that responds to the applied weight. This design works to maintain structural integrity while offering the highest support and comfort available. Fabric-encased coil cushions are more resilient than foam, providing as much lift force when load is removed as when load is applied.
  • The new SoftLuxe Seat Cushion offers up to 21% less seat cushion breakdown with fabric-encased coil seat cushions over the life of the product. This system offers innovation, quality and durability for furniture cushions.
  • The foundation of the chair is the lift base. After testing all of the lift bases on the market today, we have determined that the Super Sagless lift base (made in the U.S.A.) is the best available. While more expensive, it will withstand the constant use and abuse that a lift chair must take. A lift base must be as wide as the base of the chair to be stable in the lifted position. The Super Sagless base we use is the most stable base in the upright, lifted position on the market today. This model comes standard with the Okin super quiet low volt motor.
  • The fabrics used on all Med-Lift chairs meet both CAL 117 and UFAC requirements of flammability. We have an independent lab test our fabrics, foam and fibers once a year toe nsure that they meet correct specifications. We cannot attach the UFAC tag or purchase the tags if our components do not pass this testing. The fiber used in the back is a dustless, odorless, non-allergenic, conjugated fiber. This is the best that we can find in the industry.
  • Options available at an additional charge for this model include: Customer's own fabric; moveable infrared heat; Ultra-EZZ III Massage System; Extra Magazine Pocket; Snap-on Head Pillow; Visco Memory Foam Seat; 2 Vib/Heat. What exactly is an Extended Service Plan?
An extended service plan is generally an extension of your original manufacturer's warranty. Most manufacturers warranty their products to be free from defects for up to one year from the date of purchase. This warranty virtually guarantees you that if your newly purchased product fails, the manufacturer will protect you from the high costs of replacement parts and labor necessary to repair your product. Extended service plans lengthen your product's coverage for up to an additional 60 months (5 years) to insure you get years of performance satisfaction from your newly purchased product.
How is this different than the manufacturer's warranty?
A manufacturer's warranty usually offers limited coverage for a limited time, with parts and labor carrying separate lengths of coverage. For example, a common manufacturer warranty of a product might cover a consumer for one full year on parts defects but only 90 days on the high cost of labor involved to change those parts. Extended service plans provide comprehensive, long term, even length coverage. This means that should your product fail within your plans coverage time frame, both parts and labor costs are covegrey.

Our extended service providers offer an easy to use interactive form online which you may use to request that they initiate a claim on your product. Your other alternative is to call the toll-free number on your extended warranty card or email and have a qualified representative make this request for you with the information you will provide. We believe that our claim initiation request process is the absolute best our industry has to offer. It is designed for simplicity and speed.
Who will perform the service on my product?
Our company works with over 11,000 authorized service professionals. Each technician is extensively trained by the respective manufacturers to provide service on your products. Authorized technicians must complete annual and bi-annual continued education exams in addition to being well versed in manufacturer supplied update bulletins to ensure their level of expertise is as current as the new products which come to market. May I transfer my extended service plan to another person?
Our service plans are 100% transferable. If you would like transfer ownership of the covegrey product along with its coverage, we require that the request be supplied in writing. Will I have to pay a deductible or any other "hidden costs"?
Generally, the amount of a deductible is almost always proportional to the amount of the premium charged. In order to have a lower deductible, even as low as $0, the plan holder would generally have to agree to a higher premium. For those who want lower premiums, they must agree to a higher deductible. Our extended service plans carry a $0.00 deductible along with low premiums. This means that with an extended service plan there are no high upfront costs and they are committed to cover 100% parts and labor costs on any authorized claim.
When does my warranty start?
Depending on the type of coverage you own, an extended warranty begins at the conclusion of the shortest portion of the manufacturer’s warranty. If the manufacturer’s warranty was 90 day labor and 1 year parts, the extended warranty would begin on the 91st day and continue for the duration of the warranty period. All replacement, commercial and accidental plans begin on the date of purchase.
Why does my plan say "under $1000"?
Some plans carry a dollar value on them. This means that your product's purchase price, excluding tax, delivery and accessories is below the listed price on the contract. It's simply a classification based on the price of purchase of the product under warranty.
What does an accidental plan cover?
If you have added Accidental Coverage to your plan, this plan shall cover unintentional damages as a result of: impact, liquid damage or unintentional physical damage. Accidental Coverage does not cover intentional damages of any kind to the covered product or losses due to theft. Accidental Coverage does not cover willful damage, misuse, damage due to neglect, drops over 6 feet, fire damage or full immersion in water.

Accidental Coverage does not cover damage caused by the use of a product in a way the manufacturer never intended. Coverage for this plan shall begin 30 days after the date of purchase of the covered product.
