Maytag MGT8885XS Reviews & Ratings

Gemini Series MGT8885X 30" Freestanding Gas Range With 5 Burners, 3.9 cu. ft. Convection Lower Oven, Self-Cleaning, Griddle Burner With Griddle, 2.1 Cu. Ft. Upper Oven, In Stainless Steel is rated 4.4043 out of 5 by 94.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a joy to cook again My new range has helped to turn what had become just a chore into something that ignites my imagination and renewed my passion for cooking. The variation of the burners allows you to cook at different rates as does the double oven. I've even found inventive ways to use the middle long burner. It's a perfect fit for making gravy in long roasting pans and for poachers. The large burner is perfect for large saute pans--turn it up and brown your chicken, turn it down to slow cook it, or turn on the top oven and finish it there while a cake is baking in the botton oven. So easy to clean, so much fun to use, and a beautiful looking appliance as well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from After 1 year of minimal use it looks terrible... I was so happy when we purchased this oven/range because of the double oven and the center burner. I now regret this purchase. This was NOT a cheap appliance but you can't tell buy looking at it now. I have had this since April 2011 and barely used it to be quite honest. There are drips inside the doors that I can't get clean. The finish on the top of the range is a mess. The finish is just gone from areas where water spilled. This is insane that finish didn't hold up when I barely cook. I hate that I'm now stuck with this horrible appliance that I can't afford to replace with something that not only works nice but looks nice.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I expected a better stove With todays technology I truly expected a better stove. The broiler oven is ok. My 20 year old gas stove was far superior in use of the broiler oven. Also the broiler does not broil eveningly over what you may be broiling and I have to rotate the item several times in order to broil the item correctly. The convection oven is good. The digital display is a pain in order to reset the clock on the stove and making simple digital temperature settings . The stove itself is bulit solid. Keeping the stove exterior clean is a real piece of work...if someone out there has an easy way of keeping the outside of this stove clean please help!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product has very poor product performance. I like cooking with gas, but this oven has not worked right since it was installed. The certified repairman has adjusted the temp. for the double ovens 3 times, and the gas ovens still do not hold the temperature. It cooks 100 degrees below what the digital reading says. I have a seperate thermometer in oven to check the temp. Christmas dinner was a disaster! Seems like the temp probe will not read what temp the oven is to kick in again to heat up the ovens. I regret buying this product. I bought white, and the cooktop is horrible to keep clean, even if you do not spill anything on it. The ovens also do not heat up fast, slower than my old electric single oven.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the stove I waited for my whole life! I am retired and wanted a new stove that met my needs. Very often there is just the two of us, but, my daughter,son-law and three grandchildren live next door! Having two ovens is a dream! I have rediscovered cooking! I find I use the small oven most of the time. It is large enough to cook most meals. This may seem like a small issue to some ! I have had several stainless appliances, however, my Gemini is the easiest finish to keep clean I have ever had... I have only had my stove 3 months. I am still experimenting with all it's convenient features. So far it exceeds my expectations. Linda son-law bought one!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome range...but This range cooks food beautifully. I am especially happy with the convection roast feature. I have never had meat or vegetables come out as beautifully in my life. Plus being able to cook different items at different temps in the dual ovens makes a huge difference. There is one very significant design flaw. The upper oven vent is directly beneath the control panel. When the upper oven is in use, the air coming from the vent is extremely hot and makes using the controls almost unbearable. When setting the timer, I am only able to keep my hand over the vent for a few seconds at a time. This flaw is unfortunate since I would have given a resounding perfect 10 for this range.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from When it works it works great Shortly after delivery I started having trouble with the burner in the upper oven. Only half of the heating element would light, giving off a strong gas smell until the rest of the burner would ignite. I had it repaired but it continues to be an issue. The oven still cooks evenly and quickly. Having a large family I love having the double oven option, it is very convenient and I use it daily. I can easily fit my two large fry pans on the stove top along with a small sauce pot without any trouble. Cleaning the stove top and stove front can be challenging. It tends to streak easily.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I like everything about my new range, with 2 exceptions. the 2 things that I would change if possible are: The most important to me are the grates on top. I have had my range leveled twice since I got it. Once when they installed it and again recently. I thought it was not level because the grease in my pans runs to the edge of the pan and does not stay in the center for even cooking. The technician checked and my range is level, its the grates, they are not level. It does make for unhandy cooking. The other thing is how the bottom door is vented on top. Something had gotten dripped down in there from above and ran down the glass. The only way to clean it off is to take the door apart, which I don"t think we as consumers should mess with. thanks so much, phyllis

What exactly is an Extended Service Plan?
An extended service plan is generally an extension of your original manufacturer's warranty. Most manufacturers warranty their products to be free from defects for up to one year from the date of purchase. This warranty virtually guarantees you that if your newly purchased product fails, the manufacturer will protect you from the high costs of replacement parts and labor necessary to repair your product. Extended service plans lengthen your product's coverage for up to an additional 60 months (5 years) to insure you get years of performance satisfaction from your newly purchased product.
How is this different than the manufacturer's warranty?
A manufacturer's warranty usually offers limited coverage for a limited time, with parts and labor carrying separate lengths of coverage. For example, a common manufacturer warranty of a product might cover a consumer for one full year on parts defects but only 90 days on the high cost of labor involved to change those parts. Extended service plans provide comprehensive, long term, even length coverage. This means that should your product fail within your plans coverage time frame, both parts and labor costs are covegrey.
How do I buy an Extended Service Plan?
Extended Service Plans can be purchased along with your product online, or via our toll free number.
Can I renew my Consumer Priority Service extended service plan?
Yes, service plans are renewable and must be submitted 30 days prior to the original plans expiration. Please contact a sales representative to discuss your renewal options.
What should I do if I need extended service?
Our extended service providers offer an easy to use interactive form online which you may use to request that they initiate a claim on your product. Your other alternative is to call the toll-free number on your extended warranty card or email and have a qualified representative make this request for you with the information you will provide. We believe that our claim initiation request process is the absolute best our industry has to offer. It is designed for simplicity and speed.
Who will perform the service on my product?
Our company works with over 11,000 authorized service professionals. Each technician is extensively trained by the respective manufacturers to provide service on your products. Authorized technicians must complete annual and bi-annual continued education exams in addition to being well versed in manufacturer supplied update bulletins to ensure their level of expertise is as current as the new products which come to market. We urge our customers to provide feedback regarding their experiences which we later use to insure that the level of service we are expected to provide is exactly the level of service you receive.
May I transfer my extended service plan to another person?
Our service plans are 100% transferable. If you would like transfer ownership of the covegrey product along with its coverage, we require that the request be supplied in writing. For assistance please contact a Representative. Please have all of the new owner's information at hand when requesting a transfer.
Will I have to pay a deductible or any other "hidden costs"?
Generally, the amount of a deductible is almost always proportional to the amount of the premium charged. In order to have a lower deductible, even as low as $0, the plan holder would generally have to agree to a higher premium. For those who want lower premiums, they must agree to a higher deductible. Our extended service plans carry a $0.00 deductible along with low premiums. This means that with an extended service plan there are no high upfront costs and they are committed to cover 100% parts and labor costs on any authorized claim.
When does my warranty start?
Depending on the type of coverage you own, an extended warranty begins at the conclusion of the shortest portion of the manufacturer’s warranty. If the manufacturer’s warranty was 90 day labor and 1 year parts, the extended warranty would begin on the 91st day and continue for the duration of the warranty period. All replacement, commercial and accidental plans begin on the date of purchase.
Why does my plan say "under $1000"?
Some plans carry a dollar value on them. This means that your product's purchase price, excluding tax, delivery and accessories is below the listed price on the contract. It's simply a classification based on the price of purchase of the product under warranty.
What does an accidental plan cover?
If you have added Accidental Coverage to your plan, this plan shall cover unintentional damages as a result of: impact, liquid damage or unintentional physical damage. Accidental Coverage does not cover intentional damages of any kind to the covered product or losses due to theft. Accidental Coverage does not cover willful damage, misuse, damage due to neglect, drops over 6 feet, fire damage or full immersion in water.

Accidental Coverage does not cover damage caused by the use of a product in a way the manufacturer never intended. Coverage for this plan shall begin 30 days after the date of purchase of the covered product.
Is my service plan worldwide?
All plans carry a worldwide option at no additional charge. Contact a sales professional for further details.
Who do I contact with further questions?
Please contact a sales professional at 1-800-299-9470.
