KitchenAid KERS505XSS Reviews & Ratings

KERS505XSS Architect Series II 30" Wide 6.7 Cu. ft. Capacity Freestanding Double Oven Range with 5 Burners, Convection Oven, EasyConvect Time, Sabbath Mode in Stainless Steel is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product sounds light a freight train when turned on. I purchased this oven in September 2011 and I am very disappointed in it. I love the double ovens, however, this product makes horrible loud noise when turned on. The installer said that the convection oven fan is the reason for the noise, but the sound is "normal". It keeps turning on and making noise even when the convection oven is not being used. The noise is almost constant even when the upper oven is being used. It sounds like a loud diesel truck engine or a freight train going by.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Can not clean inside the glass on both doors I called for serve on dirty glass on both doors that can not be cleaned, without taking the doors apart. The serve company that KitchenAid hires to do there work told me it wasn't a factory problem and they wouldn't clean the inside. He told me it's how I do my cooking in the oven...well I had to laugh at that comment. With that being said the problem wasn't solved and I will never purchase a KithchenAid product which I feel is a factory problem by the design of product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This product looks nice but not well designed. It is hard to clean and hard to get used to the stove (it shuts off instead of a steady heat). The oven looks very nice and seems to have excellent features, but it is very disappointing. It is hard to keep clean (stovetop and the door glass), it takes very long to preheat and the stove is very frustrating to use as the heat turns on and off instead of keeping a steady heat. The oven was made to appear very fancy but is nothing short of a waste of too much money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to Clean My appliance was installed 3 months ago. I love the double oven and the ease of cleaning the top. I have found that you must use only the pots recommended on the cooktop or the surface will begin to show small bubbles. I gladly disposed of most of my cookware and purchased stainless instead because I love the easy-to-clean top.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the look I bought this oven 6 months ago, and I have to admit that I seldom use the larger oven. I love the smaller one, and with only 2 people in my family, I find that it is perfect for our daily needs. I also like the fact that when we have company we have the double ovens. I have only used the convection part once in 6 months. The cooktop is a little harder to clean than one that I owned previously, but not too difficult. My biggest complaint is that you cannot clean between the glass in the oven doors. I asked the dealer what to do and he said the only way was to take apart the door. When his technicians were here for another appliance delivery, one was supposed to take it apart it to show me, but backed down because he was afraid to break the door! And I am expected to take it apart?! So I have been living with an inside window drip since company used it the first week I owned it. Not happy about that. I am very careful now about not getting anything near the vents in the oven doors.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from works fine but hard to clean I like the over all look and the double oven is nice but the cook top is extremely hard to clean. It shows the smallest splatter, finger print, water mark or smudge and has to be wiped several times to make it look clean. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN COOK TOP.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Has never worked right I previously owned. A kitchen aid and had it for 15 years? I loved it! I bought a new one when I remodeled my kitchen. The new one won't keep anything on a continuous boil, no matter which burner I use. I have burned more in the time I have owned this oven than I have my entire life. I am horribly disappointed! The windows are not sealed so when something boiled over, because I had to keep turning it up as it would not boil, at a lower temp, it filled the windows with drip marks. Although they did clean the top one, the bottom one has drip marks, as it ran completely through. They replaced something in the burner coil, but it doesn't work much better.. The top oven burns everything on top and doughy center inside. I should have kept my old kitchen aid and just fixed the glass in front, it worked better than my new expensive one. I think I have a lemon and I want a new one. Won't be satisfied till these problems are taken care of, and the only way I see that happening is a replacement. What a bad experience with kitchen aid. I don't feel that you have stood behind your product

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it Stove top works well, small oven is used constantly, Have not used large oven yet that will happen when I roast a turkey. With the performance of rest of product expect it will meet or exceed expectations.

What exactly is an Extended Service Plan?
An extended service plan is generally an extension of your original manufacturer's warranty. Most manufacturers warranty their products to be free from defects for up to one year from the date of purchase. This warranty virtually guarantees you that if your newly purchased product fails, the manufacturer will protect you from the high costs of replacement parts and labor necessary to repair your product. Extended service plans lengthen your product's coverage for up to an additional 60 months (5 years) to insure you get years of performance satisfaction from your newly purchased product.
How is this different than the manufacturer's warranty?
A manufacturer's warranty usually offers limited coverage for a limited time, with parts and labor carrying separate lengths of coverage. For example, a common manufacturer warranty of a product might cover a consumer for one full year on parts defects but only 90 days on the high cost of labor involved to change those parts. Extended service plans provide comprehensive, long term, even length coverage. This means that should your product fail within your plans coverage time frame, both parts and labor costs are covegrey.
How do I buy an Extended Service Plan?
Extended Service Plans can be purchased along with your product online, or via our toll free number.
Can I renew my Consumer Priority Service extended service plan?
Yes, service plans are renewable and must be submitted 30 days prior to the original plans expiration. Please contact a sales representative to discuss your renewal options.
What should I do if I need extended service?
Our extended service providers offer an easy to use interactive form online which you may use to request that they initiate a claim on your product. Your other alternative is to call the toll-free number on your extended warranty card or email and have a qualified representative make this request for you with the information you will provide. We believe that our claim initiation request process is the absolute best our industry has to offer. It is designed for simplicity and speed.
Who will perform the service on my product?
Our company works with over 11,000 authorized service professionals. Each technician is extensively trained by the respective manufacturers to provide service on your products. Authorized technicians must complete annual and bi-annual continued education exams in addition to being well versed in manufacturer supplied update bulletins to ensure their level of expertise is as current as the new products which come to market. We urge our customers to provide feedback regarding their experiences which we later use to insure that the level of service we are expected to provide is exactly the level of service you receive.
May I transfer my extended service plan to another person?
Our service plans are 100% transferable. If you would like transfer ownership of the covegrey product along with its coverage, we require that the request be supplied in writing. For assistance please contact a Representative. Please have all of the new owner's information at hand when requesting a transfer.
Will I have to pay a deductible or any other "hidden costs"?
Generally, the amount of a deductible is almost always proportional to the amount of the premium charged. In order to have a lower deductible, even as low as $0, the plan holder would generally have to agree to a higher premium. For those who want lower premiums, they must agree to a higher deductible. Our extended service plans carry a $0.00 deductible along with low premiums. This means that with an extended service plan there are no high upfront costs and they are committed to cover 100% parts and labor costs on any authorized claim.
When does my warranty start?
Depending on the type of coverage you own, an extended warranty begins at the conclusion of the shortest portion of the manufacturer’s warranty. If the manufacturer’s warranty was 90 day labor and 1 year parts, the extended warranty would begin on the 91st day and continue for the duration of the warranty period. All replacement, commercial and accidental plans begin on the date of purchase.
Why does my plan say "under $1000"?
Some plans carry a dollar value on them. This means that your product's purchase price, excluding tax, delivery and accessories is below the listed price on the contract. It's simply a classification based on the price of purchase of the product under warranty.
What does an accidental plan cover?
If you have added Accidental Coverage to your plan, this plan shall cover unintentional damages as a result of: impact, liquid damage or unintentional physical damage. Accidental Coverage does not cover intentional damages of any kind to the covered product or losses due to theft. Accidental Coverage does not cover willful damage, misuse, damage due to neglect, drops over 6 feet, fire damage or full immersion in water.

Accidental Coverage does not cover damage caused by the use of a product in a way the manufacturer never intended. Coverage for this plan shall begin 30 days after the date of purchase of the covered product.
Is my service plan worldwide?
All plans carry a worldwide option at no additional charge. Contact a sales professional for further details.
Who do I contact with further questions?
Please contact a sales professional at 1-800-299-9470.
