KitchenAid KEBS279BSS Reviews & Ratings

Architect Series II KEBS279BSS 27" Double Electric Wall Oven with 4.3 cu. ft. Per Oven, True Convection Ovens, Self-Clean, EvenHeat Technology and CleanBake Hidden Element in Stainless Steel is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from fan is noisy! I loved the looks of this oven - great blue interior and great racks. I also bought it because it looked like it had simple and easy to understand controls - and it does! However, the fan is really, really noisy. It cycles on and off while cooking, and when finished cooking it stays on for 75 minutes to cool down. Our first electric bill was much bigger than the old ones. The noise level wouldn't be too bad if we could leave the kitchen, but our kitchen opens into our family room. Ironically, we bought a very silent dishwasher so that we could talk after dinner without being disturbed, never thinking that the oven would be noisy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good oven for the money So far the oven has performed great. The control panel is easy enough to figure out and the items that we have cooked thus have been thoroughly cooked. The preheat cycle took the longest to get used to as it climbs to the optimum temperature rather slowly. Another issue is the cool down after you pull the food out and shut it off. Heat comes out of a vent at the bottom for quite some time. My first time I did not know what it was but after a while it went away. It will warm the kitchen. Have not tried the convection portion yet but am not anticipating a problem. I would highlight this in the instructions. Found out about the cool down in the FAQ section.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Oven Several years ago I purchased an Electrolux Double Wall Oven and had trouble with it from the first week. The thermostat went out, the middle glass panel shattered, the probe failed to read the correct temp and several other issues. After three years Best Buy deemed it a lemon and I was able to replace it with the Kitchenaid. How I love it! It's far easier to use and does a great job using all methods. If I have a complaint it would be that the door is very large making it difficult to check foods unless I open the door and pull the racks out. I'll get used to it, it's the way I should be doing it anyway. Don't hesitate to buy this machine, it's a safe bet.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from nervous about the computer control going out I purchased this for a remodel finished in early October. On Halloween, while using both ovens at 400 for a massive round of pizza baking (12 pies, 4 at a time) the oven went dead with 2 minutes left in the last batch. When I went to turn the oven on the next morning, it was fine. It died one more time on Thanksgiving (turkey in top oven, bottom oven at 350) but with only a few minutes needed (so top oven running for about 6 hours.) Again, it worked fine the next morning. I've only used both ovens at once about 5 times,.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great quality product! We bought this oven several months ago and the only complaint we have is the whistling sound of the fan while the oven is on and during the cooling period. After having this a few months, you get used to the noise. The interior size is good, the racks are a high quality, the interior is beautiful, the window is wide for viewing. The warm up period is a bit long. Cooks very evenly. Overall, the positive things outweigh the negative.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Versatile It is a thing of beauty, nicely styled. However, the fan starts up the minute you start the preheat and continues on until the oven cools. We eat in the kitchen and the fan noise is distracting. (I'm not talking about the convection fan.) It also takes a long time to preheat, even on the quick preheat setting. It cooks evenly including when there are two dishes in the oven.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from These ovens are very good in terms of operation and outstanding in terms of function and appearance. After 30 years, our old Chambers dual oven gave up the ghost. We looked extensively for a replacement (Consumer Reports, on-line reviews, vendor web sites, and visits to local appliance dealer showrooms) and finally settled on the KitchenAid double oven in a black exterior as the best balance between cost, function, looks, and past product reliability experience. Since installing our ovens a month and a half ago, we have been very pleased with the results for baking/roasting breads, casseroles, meats, vegetables, etc. The ovens are also lovely to look at from a visual design perspective. The controls, indicators, timing functions, and visibility of the oven interiors during operation are excellent. Our only complaint is the relatively loud sound from the cooling fans during operation and lasting about 15 minutes after cooking is done. This noise can be off-putting if you eat adjacent to the kitchen cooking area.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a beautiful oven and we enjoy it. This is a real good product. We enjoy using it and it is beautiful. the only part we are having trouble with is using the controls. we ar 80 and 81 one years old and it is a little difficult to understand the direction but we are working on it and are progessing. It does a great job backing bread and other things that we have put in it. We like it very much.
