Rated 5 out of 5 by from Continuous supply of hot water. We recently installed the GE GeoSpring hot water tank. After extensive review on this unit, and recommendation from our plumber (who has installed many), we purchased and installed this unit to replace a ailing tankless, oil-fired, hot water system. With a family of four daughters, there was this growing complaint of available hot water supply. From day one of install, these stopped. Personally I could not stand the sound of our furnace running in the summer months. 90 degrees outside and our furnace would be running just for hot water. Not this summer! Thanks to the GE Hot water system, you have silenced the furnace and the complaints too. Worth every dime.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought & installed this model GEH50DEEDSC - great unit I purchased the WH and received it with excellant delivery about two weeks before I installed it. I deferred installation until my family was gone over Memorial Day weekend so it didn't inconvenience anyone. Installation was very quick and easy with great instructions. WH works well - using Hybrid setting and 120 F setting. I have a geothermal Htg/Clg system with a desuperheater that heats utility water in a storage tank (old water heater) that feeds water into my new GeoSpring. So I expect I will have very low electric bills from now on. My utility gives me a $400 rebate and the IRS will provide a $300 energy credit, so payback will be in one year no doubt. No brainer!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too soon to tell We installed our Geospring in early December, 2013, and it has delivered hot water flawlessly (although with two people in our house, that's not much of a demand). Based on the yellow power requirements on my old heater vs the new one, I thought I would save about $15 a month on my electric bill. Sadly, that has not been the case. My bills are running as high, or even higher, than they did last year. I was so sure that this was an error that I called my power company and protested. The nice lady said that, because of the cold weather, my furnace blower was probably eating up all of my savings from the water heater. So, I guess I'll reserve my judgement until milder weather arrives.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Flawed heater Maybe the newer models have less issues. I'm on my second service call, hopefully it will not cost me more to fix. The Positive is that GE is paying for the parts during the first 10 years. The Bad is for the price we are paying for this heater, we shouldn't need to have it repair this early, or often. With old water heaters, they go bad, you replace them. With the cost of these things, you will feel that you need to keep them 10 years to come out ahead. I'm not even sure of the actual energy savings we are having. But if given the option I would not have bought this specific unit again...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use! First new water heater we have ever purchased after three houses. Great easy to use digital control panel with boost mode, vacation mode, etc. Unlike our old water heater, this puts out water at a consistent temperature for the whole shower. Looking forward to the energy savings, and a bigger tank capacity/hybrid feature so we never run out of hot water. Note that it does make noise from the fan in the heat pump portion of the heater. I didn't realize it would, but it's in our garage so it isn't a problem. In a basement that may be an issue depending what else the space is used for.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from disappointed I am a GE employee of 23 years. I bought a refridgerator, oven, microwave, and a dishwasher at the same time 8 months ago. Wanted to support my company and receive the employee discount. Refridgerator was scratched under the protective film. Received wrong mounting kit with microwave. Have had 2 service calls on oven so far. Refridgerator is loud as heck and no mention of that when ordering from GE website. But it is mentioned in the manual after you receive it. Tried to complain about these issues on Ge website but that was down as well. Very poor quality. from my stand point.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Huge disappointment! Do not buy! Unit installed in Texas last February. Far more expensive than a conventional unit. Often does not provide enough hot water for a married couple both to shower before going to church. I do not know how a family could depend on this unit. While SOMETIMES it will do in the summer, it is variable. Putting it in standard mode sometimes helps, but even then, it does not measure up to the (tired) unit it replaced. Factory service yielded no identification of a defect nor any improvement. Want our money back. DOES NOT LIVE UP TO ADVERTISED CAPABILITY!
