Other units have fan run nonstop. I am using the automatic drain not the pump. So far so good. You do need to be sure that the drain hose runs straight down to the drain. At one point I moved the unit and didn`t realize the hose had a hump in it. This caused the water to drain back into the unit filling the bucket.
