Electrolux EI30BM55HS Reviews & Ratings

EI30BM55HS IQ-Touch Series 2.0 Cu. Ft. Over the Range Microwave, 10 Power Levels, 1,000 Watts, 9 Auto Cook Options and Blue LED Display, in Stainless Steel is rated 2.7719 out of 5 by 57.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bottom Controls stink We have had microwaves over our range forever, with no problems until this one. It works gretafor a while, but then it blew out. We were told by the repairman that it was probably because of steam penetrating the control panel. When this happens, the unit freerzes and becomes completely inoperable until it dries out. Now, we have to have the door open when boiling water or or cook anything that produces steam. It doesn't take long to freeze if we forget. I rigged a steam diverter with cardboard for when we need to use it and boil anything at the same time. And being out of warranty, we loose... Do Not Buy This Unit for over the range. It stinks!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hard to read buttons and HOT handle Overall appearance is great when paired with the stand alone range. I have three criticisms: 1. the buttons are hard to read, they should be backlit like the buttons on the range using Wave-Touch. 2. when mounted over the gas range, the handle is above the hottest dual-flame burner and gets very hot to the touch. 3. This may or may not be a defect, but the auto - on fan feature when heat is detected hasn't worked yet. Maybe the sensor is bad or perhaps it just hasn't gotten hot enough, maybe they should locate the sensor in the handle? I'm not sure why Electrolux didn't add the Wave-Touch to the over the range models like they have with the built in.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I'm disappointed should be better. We';ve had this now since April 2011. Had door replaced twice because the handle breaks. We are not hard on it. Acts like the plastic gets brittle and just crumbles. The service guy is the same one who has been out before and says it's installed wrong. He's trying to tell us the bottom of the unit has to be 30" from the top of the range. Bunk. the install manual clearly says that the minimum distance is 30" from the TOP of the microwave to the top of the range. We have it at about 35", 5" more than minimum. The controls are so dark they are almost unreadable. How come they don't light up like the range? We have it vent to the outside. It works great, just VERY noisy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More to be revealed. While the performance of the product is exceptional I was dismayed when I ordered replacement parts. I had my kitchen remodeled & wit required relocation of the microwave. In the process the vent cover screw became broken & I had to re-order the chrome strip that covers the vent. I was shocked to learn that this non functioning part was $150. It has no operating parts & is strictly cosmetic in function,. Since we wanted our new kitchen to reflect the investment, we had no choice but to order the part. There should be more of a direct relation between the functioning of the replacement part and relative cost.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Bottom Display Feature Have owned this microwave for almost 6 months and have tolerated the poorly designed bottom display lettering for "wave touch" product. You simply cannot read the display options under normal evening kitchen lighting. We have to keep a small flashlight next to the unit under the circumstances. It's embarassing and a poorly designed feature. I've had a repair person in twice because of unusually loud fan noise that I'm told is "normal." But even he couldn't believe how difficult it is to read the bottom display options. Bought a complete Electrolux kitcehn appliance package, and already have regrets.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Design, Electronic problems This microwave has broken 2 times. It started making a loud noise and did not heat up. First time was 11 months after purchase. The repair was covered by warranty. I had to detach the unit from the cabinets so the repairman could bring to his shop. When repaired, I was responsible for putting it back in place. Soon after it broke a second time with the same problem. I was told by the repairman that the problem was caused by the microwave being turned on without anything inside. This often happens when cleaning the outside panel. The start button accidentally gets pushed and it breaks. The repair is over $400. I trashed it rather than putting good money into this poorly designed microwave.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great at cooking; Two issues Bought this less than seven months ago to coordinate with a new Electrolux glass-top range (which I love). Microwave has been used normally. Today the plastic mount that holds the microwave door handle shattered inexplicably. There's no reason why such a high quality appliance should have plastic mounts. The range door handles have metal mounts. In addition, I've found the microwave touchpad very difficult to read unless light is shining on it at the proper angle. As a cooking appliance, this microwave is great. I'm very satisfied with its performance. The design needs reworking.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not worth the money Luckily we bought ours from the scratch and dent place…paid $399.00 Nov 2012 (they list for $799.00).  March 2014 (16 months later) the magnetron tube and a couple other parts went out.  Had them replaced by an Electrolux approved repairman at a cost to me of $223.00 because only the magnetron tube is covered for more than 1 year…I had to pay for other parts and labor.  One week after I got it back the magnetron tube went out again, but I guess 3 is my lucky number because as of May 2014 the 3rd magnatron tube is working so far. I would not recommend this appliance to anyone.

What exactly is an Extended Service Plan?
An extended service plan is generally an extension of your original manufacturer's warranty. Most manufacturers warranty their products to be free from defects for up to one year from the date of purchase. This warranty virtually guarantees you that if your newly purchased product fails, the manufacturer will protect you from the high costs of replacement parts and labor necessary to repair your product. Extended service plans lengthen your product's coverage for up to an additional 60 months (5 years) to insure you get years of performance satisfaction from your newly purchased product.
How is this different than the manufacturer's warranty?
A manufacturer's warranty usually offers limited coverage for a limited time, with parts and labor carrying separate lengths of coverage. For example, a common manufacturer warranty of a product might cover a consumer for one full year on parts defects but only 90 days on the high cost of labor involved to change those parts. Extended service plans provide comprehensive, long term, even length coverage. This means that should your product fail within your plans coverage time frame, both parts and labor costs are covegrey.
How do I buy an Extended Service Plan?
Extended Service Plans can be purchased along with your product online, or via our toll free number.
Can I renew my Consumer Priority Service extended service plan?
Yes, service plans are renewable and must be submitted 30 days prior to the original plans expiration. Please contact a sales representative to discuss your renewal options.
What should I do if I need extended service?
Our extended service providers offer an easy to use interactive form online which you may use to request that they initiate a claim on your product. Your other alternative is to call the toll-free number on your extended warranty card or email and have a qualified representative make this request for you with the information you will provide. We believe that our claim initiation request process is the absolute best our industry has to offer. It is designed for simplicity and speed.
Who will perform the service on my product?
Our company works with over 11,000 authorized service professionals. Each technician is extensively trained by the respective manufacturers to provide service on your products. Authorized technicians must complete annual and bi-annual continued education exams in addition to being well versed in manufacturer supplied update bulletins to ensure their level of expertise is as current as the new products which come to market. We urge our customers to provide feedback regarding their experiences which we later use to insure that the level of service we are expected to provide is exactly the level of service you receive.
May I transfer my extended service plan to another person?
Our service plans are 100% transferable. If you would like transfer ownership of the covegrey product along with its coverage, we require that the request be supplied in writing. For assistance please contact a Representative. Please have all of the new owner's information at hand when requesting a transfer.
Will I have to pay a deductible or any other "hidden costs"?
Generally, the amount of a deductible is almost always proportional to the amount of the premium charged. In order to have a lower deductible, even as low as $0, the plan holder would generally have to agree to a higher premium. For those who want lower premiums, they must agree to a higher deductible. Our extended service plans carry a $0.00 deductible along with low premiums. This means that with an extended service plan there are no high upfront costs and they are committed to cover 100% parts and labor costs on any authorized claim.
When does my warranty start?
Depending on the type of coverage you own, an extended warranty begins at the conclusion of the shortest portion of the manufacturer’s warranty. If the manufacturer’s warranty was 90 day labor and 1 year parts, the extended warranty would begin on the 91st day and continue for the duration of the warranty period. All replacement, commercial and accidental plans begin on the date of purchase.
Why does my plan say "under $1000"?
Some plans carry a dollar value on them. This means that your product's purchase price, excluding tax, delivery and accessories is below the listed price on the contract. It's simply a classification based on the price of purchase of the product under warranty.
What does an accidental plan cover?
If you have added Accidental Coverage to your plan, this plan shall cover unintentional damages as a result of: impact, liquid damage or unintentional physical damage. Accidental Coverage does not cover intentional damages of any kind to the covered product or losses due to theft. Accidental Coverage does not cover willful damage, misuse, damage due to neglect, drops over 6 feet, fire damage or full immersion in water.

Accidental Coverage does not cover damage caused by the use of a product in a way the manufacturer never intended. Coverage for this plan shall begin 30 days after the date of purchase of the covered product.
Is my service plan worldwide?
All plans carry a worldwide option at no additional charge. Contact a sales professional for further details.
Who do I contact with further questions?
Please contact a sales professional at 1-800-299-9470.
