The only way to move the warm air is with strategically placed fans. This saves me lots of money, but the house is always noisy because of all the fans running. (I don't have central air, so there is no "whole house" fan.) Therefore, quietness is my highest consideration. A 16 inch fan can move more air at a lower speed (i.e. noise) than 12 inch fans. That's what I like about this fan. I own three of them. Unfortunately, they're not all the same quietness. The first one I bought (to evaluate the quietness) was VERY quiet. On "low," you could barely tell it was running (just a few feet away). Because of this, I bought two more.
