Wall Mount Hoods: "Mounting Type"

  • Under Cabinet Mounted range hoods are installed underneath cabinets. They are available in many styles including: standard hoods, canopy style hoods and slide out hoods. They are either vented or non-vented, while most units do have an external blower. They are designed to have the ventilation system exhaust air to the outside of your home with duct work via a wall, soffit, chase or ceiling.
  • Wall Mounted range hoods are attached to the wall behind the range or cooktop. If you have no cabinet or any other obstruction these units may be perfect for your kitchen. Most of these units are ducted and have internal blowers. Some units have ceiling height restrictions so be sure to check your owner's manual.
  • Island Mounted range hoods are used when you have your cooktop on an island in your kitchen. Most of them have internal blowers and are in the chimney style. But remember since it is positioned away from the wall you may need to shop for units slightly wider than your range or cooktop to be sure of it capacity to remove exhaust.
